Most of the airlines charge exorbitant change fees and provide no refund for cancelled flights. Southwest does not impose any significant change or southwest airlines cancellation fee. As long as you understand how it works, there is no catch. In general, if you cancel a cash-purchased flight, you will receive your entire payment back in the form of credit called travel funds by Southwest. As per Southwest airlines Cancellation policies If you used Rapid Rewards points to purchase your ticket, you would receive a full points refund.

Southwest Airlines does many things well. There are no baggage fees, a simple frequent flyer program me, excellent customer service, and NO change or cancellation fees. If Southwest flies to my destination, I always choose them. The cancellation policy is one of the best in the business. Although generous, it varies slightly depending on the type of ticket purchased.

Tickets for Wanna Get Away Tickets

Want to Get Away tickets are Southwest's lowest priced fares and are likely what most book for personal travel. These tickets have slightly stricter cancellation policies than Business Select or Anytime fares, but it's still a fairly generous policy and Southwest airlines no show policy.

If you cancel cash and want to Get Away fare, the entire purchase price will be saved as reusable travel funds for future use. You have until 10 minutes before your flight to cancel. The travel funds must be used within one year of the ticket's purchase date. However, if you contact Southwest directly, they will frequently reinstate expired travel funds for a fee of $100.

If you cancel a wanna  Get Away fare purchased with Rapid Rewards points, you will receive a full refund into your Southwest account. Any ticket-related taxes will be held as reusable travel funds. If you do not cancel your Wanna Get Away ticket within 10 minutes of the flight's departure time and are a no-show, you will not be refunded. Business Select, Anytime, and Senior Tickets are available.

Tickets for Business Select and Anytime have a more generous cancellation policy than Wanna Get Away tickets, but they are more expensive. Senior fares have the same lax cancellation policy. If you cancel a Business Select, Anytime, or Senior ticket, you will receive a full refund to the original form of payment. This is true for both cash and Rapid Rewards point tickets.
